# Delete your The Hero Journal account

This page explains how to delete your account in The Hero Journal, the app operated by Daniel Brandão Lopes. On Google Play, the app is published by Vin 7 Tecnologia e Negócios. You do not need to install the app.

## Ask by email, without the app

Send an email to [hello@theherojournal.com](mailto:hello@theherojournal.com?subject=Delete%20my%20account) from the address of your account, with the subject **Delete my account**. If you write from another address, we will ask you to confirm that the account is yours. We complete the deletion within 30 days and confirm by email.

## Do it yourself, right now

In the app, or on the website at [www.theherojournal.com/login](https://www.theherojournal.com/login):

- Sign in to your account.
- Open **Profile**.
- Choose **Delete my account**.
- Type **DELETE** to confirm and choose **Delete forever**.

The deletion takes effect immediately and cannot be undone.

## What is deleted

- Your login: email address, password hash and link with Apple or Google.
- Your profile: name, date of birth and profile photo.
- Your journal: all tasks, entries and notes, including contact details you recorded in them.
- Your main goal, score and sharing level.
- Your friends list, reminder settings, notifications and device tokens.
- Your waitlist signup with the same email address.
- Your name in the friends lists of other people, and the nudges you sent them.

## What may remain, and for how long

- **Database backups:** kept by our provider and expire within 30 days.
- **Technical logs:** expire on our providers' own schedule.
- **Emails already delivered:** stay in the inboxes that received them. Records of sent emails stay with our email provider on its own schedule.
- **Website analytics:** Google Analytics and Ahrefs data is not linked to your account, so it is not deleted with it.
- **Information other people entered:** if someone recorded your details as a contact in their own journal, that stays in their journal, because it is not linked to your account. To ask for its removal, write to us.
- **Legal obligations:** we may keep the minimum the law requires.

## If you only joined the waitlist

Write to [hello@theherojournal.com](mailto:hello@theherojournal.com?subject=Remove%20me%20from%20the%20waitlist) from that email address and we will remove it within 30 days.
