The Contract With Yourself: How to Rebuild Self-Trust

Most people don't have a discipline problem. They have a trust problem. With themselves. A contract is how you rebuild that trust.

WHY PROMISES FAIL

Because they're emotional. Made in a high moment. Abandoned in a low one.

A contract is different:

•It's written.

•It's clear.

•It defines standards.

•It defines what happens when you miss.

WHAT YOUR CONTRACT INCLUDES

Keep it short. Make it real.

•Mission: what you're building.

•Standards: the habits that prove it.

•Floor: the smallest rep on hard days.

•Return rule: what you do after a miss.

•Review: when you check in every week.

•Signature: yes, literally.

THE RETURN RULE (NOT A PUNISHMENT)

Most contracts fail because the consequence is shame. Shame makes you hide. Hiding makes you quit.

Use a return rule instead. Examples:

•"If I miss twice in a row, I shrink the rep."

•"If I miss a day, I score it 0 and show up tomorrow."

•"If a realm scores under 30 for the week, it's my quest next week."

The consequence brings you back. It doesn't push you away.

A SAMPLE CONTRACT

"My mission: be strong and calm by the end of this year.

My standards: 20 minutes of cardio, 2 liters of water, 10 minutes of meditation.

My floor: 10 minutes of walking, one glass of water, 10 deep breaths.

My return rule: if I miss twice, I shrink the rep.

My review: Sundays, 7 p.m.

Signed: ______"

THE POINT ISN'T PERFECTION. IT'S INTEGRITY.

You will miss days. The contract isn't there to shame you.

It's there to bring you back.

Write your contract. Sign it. Start today.
